Strategy 2015 Update - New Positions
(April 27, 2012) -- Two new positions that have been filled during the past few months are aimed at helping the College achieve Strategy 2015 objectives. These positions will directly help the College focus more on student outcomes, experiences, and opportunities.
Director of Assessment
Dr. Susan Gracia was hired in fall 2011 as Simmons's first director of assessment. Dr. Gracia holds a doctorate from Boston College in Educational Research, Measurement, and Evaluation, and previously was associate professor and director of assessment in the School of Education at Rhode Island College.
Dr. Gracia is working with faculty and staff across Simmons to design and implement a comprehensive approach to the assessment of student learning, and to use the results to improve the educational experience, as was requested by the 2010 New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) review.
Manager, Study Abroad & International Programs
Laura Bey was recently chosen for this new position. Bey had served as interim manager of Study Abroad since 2010, and has nearly 20 years of experience in higher education administration and advising covering a wide range of roles. Bey has an undergraduate degree in psychology, a master's degree in higher education administration, and an advanced certification in German language from the Göethe Institute. Bey previously served as associate registrar at Wellesley College and assistant director of undergraduate studies at the Boston University School of Management.
